Add margin

You can add a margin to a position by placing an order in the same direction. The amount of margin you provide with your new order will be supplemented by your current position.

This can be beneficial in situations where you want to avert liquidation or reduce your leverage.

Example

You hold a 100 ETH long position on BTC-USD at 10× leverage (10 ETH margin).

You place a 50 ETH long order on BTC-USD at 5× leverage (10 ETH margin).

Your new position is 150 ETH long on BTC-USD with 20 ETH margin, for example 7.5× leverage. You've successfully contributed margin and decreased the leverage of your position.
